I've Never Understood Pointless Feedback
Have been posting some of my stories at AO3. SG-1 and Doctor Who standalones. It's been great so far. Have a few Kudos that make me feel like I'm accomplishing something. :)
So I get this feedback this morning from a reader who's a Jack/Sam shipper. She says that she doesn't understand what I see in gay fic, be it J/D or Sam/Janet. And she doesn't agree that Jack would ever, ever cheat on Sam.
That said, she said my story (the sequel to Reality In Reverse: Reality in Spades) was well-written.
I'm very flattered for the positive feedback, but the negative feedback (though I don't mind negative feedback) had me puzzled. She's a shipper, yet she read a slash story b/c Jack/Sam was in it. That I don't get. Perhaps she was hoping for a good shipper portrayal or something.
Well, since I can't stand J/S Ship, it wasn't part of the plan. So I still find it odd, although pretty brave, to read something you know you're not gonna like.
Expanding horizons maybe? I dunno. Still, I left a cordial comment. After all, she read and left feedback. It's always a good thing, no matter the content of the feedback (unless you're a troll, then FO, ya know?)

Everyone has their own favorite genre, but in my opinion they should never tell others that their genre is wrong.
I'm amazed then that you left a cordial comment. Yes, okay, she read it and took the trouble to leave feedback, but why? I really don't understand it.
Sorry, but that's just me!

To each their own, and great, you can freely tell me why my pairings don't make sense, or why a plot doesn't make sense, and I won't jump down your throat (saying that to everyone, hon, in case they're reading *g*). Perhaps a few years ago, I might have stomped on the opinion, but these days, I'm like "Oh, okay, whatever, *eyeroll* but thanks for the FB" and I move on. ;)
I find it odd that I haven't received *positive* feedback on anything I've written lately (or posted lately). Apart from you, but you got a sneak peek. ;) You didn't write it down, but I don't really count that. Private FB is FB, ya know?
Still. You'd think I'd have gotten a response from people who've been patiently (or not) waiting for me to post something.
Go figure.

I have to say that I am LOVING the continuation of this wonderful stranded segment of the boys lives....fascinating as always and more steamy than it is over here - and that's saying something atm!!...
Now I've cooled down after a long walk on my improved foot I intend to try and finish it off tonight and will get back to you asap I promise...
Always going to be here for you, and Jack, Daniel and Jace...love them all equally...

I'm out and proud, so to speak, and don't give a shit who knows I write slash, but I know many of my online friends don't feel the same--or rather, they're forced to hide. Pisses me off and I want to charge in like a shining silver champion and defend them from the Mongol Hordes--aka, bigots.
