Designing a Goa'uld
I'm so over that gaudy-wearing cheap ass Goa'uld. I don't know what the writers/producers were thinking, but since they never gave their villains any real thought, I thought it was up to me to do it. Over the years, I've rather failed at it, not putting any real thought into it, either. But that'll change.
And so, meet Set, the new villain of The Trinity Universe and introduced for Trilogy 14: The New Pirate Code:
From my outline:
"SET: Brother of Ra’s Goa’uld. He is a 9,000-year old Goa’uld who has progressed with the times. He doesn’t wear the gaudy costumes his race is prone to wearing. He wears sleek suits of silk, linen, and wool. All darker greens and shades of grey, at odds with the bronze torque he always wears, engraved with a mix of Phoenician and Goa’uld sigils.
He is extremely handsome. 6’2”, 205lbs, lanky but built, like a swimmer. Black hair and eyes, light brown skin. Hair is swept back but cut short at the nape. Acutely-trimmed mustache and thin beard—follows the line of his jaw. Angular face with sharp cheekbones. Angular nose, wide bow lips. Large canines, perfect teeth. A light scar mars his perfection: A line from the middle of his right eyebrow that moves down his cheek to his jaw, attained by his host prior to takeover. His sarcophagus never healed it completely, denoting the strength of his host and the fact that he’s been host for 9,000 years: the host was also willing.
He is a purveyor of plants—herbs, flowers, and roots—which are designed to do anything he chooses, from healing, overpowering, or poisoning a mind. He has the power to charm—he always wears a cologne derived from plant oils that make him more attractive to whomever he approaches.
He uses technology, not ancient weaponry. Instead of having an army of Jaffa surrounding him, he has a few elite squads and a lot of tech. Tech: surveillance, chemical weapons, and modern laser weaponry."
Still ironing out a lot of the story, writing, correcting, detailing, researching. Can't give a time frame for posting, sorry.
