For the last few months or so, I've been having dreams with a recurring theme. I'd like to blame ambien, since they're usually the culprit, but not on them right now.
I figured I'd write my thoughts down about them mainly b/c they're just so bloody similar and slightly odd. It's twelve hours or so since I've been awake (bad sleep patterns atm) so I can't remember details. I'm pretty well versed in dream interpretation, so I'm not worried about reading into them.
All the dreams are action thrillers. I'm in a building, like a dorm or barracks, occasionally a big house with lots of people. I'm surrounded by civilians. A menace has invaded and we have to escape. Sometimes the menace are creatures, sometimes it's a supernatural menace like some dude with nasty powers, sometimes it's a group of humans (not zombies *g*) who are determined to kill us. Either way, the plot is to get the hell away and safe. (yes, easy to interpret that one)
In one dream, I can't get out of the house. It's old and derelict and I (and others) end up in a basement with falling roof/floors and have to barricade. That one reminds me of Silent Hill, which may or may not be responsible, I dunno.
In other dreams, I escape, either on foot, in a car I'm driving, or in a vehicle someone else is driving. But I'm on the run and I stay that way until I wake up.
In all dreams when I escape, I can sort of fly. I always have flying dreams, whether I'm on a Pegasus or I jump from the ground or something else. When I jump, it's off something, like a car or whatever. I fly way up, then gravity pulls me back down. I think I've gone too high each and every time, but I always land on my feet with a feeling of elation.
Last night's dream, there's some creepy supernatural wizard or something. I've got a car. I try to take things with me, and attempt to disarm some sort of electronic or computer alarm system so I can get away. I don't know if it works and I haul ass. And then for some reason, I keep stopping at all these kiosks to get a latte because I've spilled mine (which is somehow the size of a goddamn Big Gulp) while getting out of the house. And no one has coffee. They have every damn thing else but no bloody coffee. Then I have to find a bathroom b/c I need to pee and thus, wake up b/c I really do have to pee. Sometimes my back wakes me up. Or Sammy. Or all three.
My perspective in these dreams is first person. It's always in color. It's never sunny. It's either night time or overcast. Most of the time, the buildings are huge, like hotels, dorms, barracks.
After so many of these dreams, I'm now trying to decide if I could make use of them and form a plot bunny out of them. Nothing is coming to me, atm, but still, I'd like to do something with the imagery.
Other than write it down. ;)
